MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins' home opener is Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Kansas City Chiefs at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Dolphins will play without standout rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas, who has an ankle injury.
Douglas is out on Sunday, coach Jeff Hafley said.
Rookie wide receiver Chris Bell has knee soreness but says he plans to play.
"We feel good about him playing on Sunday," Hafley said.
Other Dolphins on the injury report this week include CB JuJu Brents (knee), RB Jaylen Wright (stinger/foot), WR Ryan Miller (hip/back) and defensive end Robert Beal (hamstring).
Miller should be OK to go, according to Hafley.
Wright is doubtful. Hafley said he is confident in Ollie Gordon II's readiness to handle the role of backup running back.
Beal
is out and Brents is scheduled to practice on Friday, per Hafley.
Edge rusher Chop Robinson (concussion) plans to return after missing one game.
Noteworthy
*Hafley said the team did a developmental 7-on-7 on Thursday. "We need to develop. We need time. We have to think outside the box," Hafley said.
*When a home crowd creates loud noise on third down at home it makes it very challenging for the opponent, Hafley notes.
*Hafley says he has core beliefs on defense, but every defense must develop and evolve.
