Authorities have located a vehicle suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian in suburban Lake Worth Beach late on Aug. 29.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said deputies found a 2000 Honda Accord on the night of Aug. 30 in the rear-facing driveway of a home on the 300 block of Ninth Avenue North, about 2 miles east of the crash scene.
A 26-year-old Lake Worth Beach man listed as the Honda's driver gave consent for the vehicle to be towed and seized as evidence, the sheriff's office said. A crash report did not indicate whether any charges or citations are pending.
Investigators say the fatal crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. Aug. 29 along the 2400 block of 10th Avenue North., just west of the Lake Worth Beach city limit.
At the time,
investigators identified the vehicle as 2003 to 2007 Black Honda Accord and said that it would have damage to the front-passenger quarter panel, front-passenger wheel well, passenger-side mirror and passenger-door window.
To date, investigators have not disclosed any identifying information regarding the person who died.
According to the crash report, a man was walking along or in the eastbound outside lane near Florida Mango Road when a Honda sideswiped him.
The force of the crash vaulted the pedestrian into the air and into an aluminum fence. The vehicle continued east and fled the scene, investigators said.
