The Presidents Cup now goes to its final session of doubles on Sept. 26, the format in which the U.S. team has had the least success in international match play — and is now facing a three-point deficit.
In addition, U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker is benching the world’s No. 1-ranked player. Scottie Scheffler will be the afternoon off after he and Sam Burns beat Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune 2 and 1 in the fourballs Saturday morning but Scheffler and Burns lost in foursomes on Friday, dropping Scheffler’s career record to 1-4 in that format.
Foursomes matches (alternate shot) begin around 2:15 p.m. (EDT) at the Medinah Country Club near Chicago, or after the final morning fourball match concluded. The U.S. went 2-1-1 in the fourballs and the Interantioinal
team now has an 8.5-5.5 lead.
The Internationals swept all five foursomes matches on Sept. 25 to take a 7-3 lead after day two. The players on the U.S. team have a combined 18-22-2 record in Presidents Cup foursomes and over the last three Presidents Cup, in three sessions of foursomes entering Saturday afternoon, the International team has outscored the U.S. 14-9.

2:57 p.m.: Sam Burns-Wyndham Clark (US) vs. Ryan Fox-Min Woo Lee (I).
