Halloween enthusiasts in northern Palm Beach County will soon have a new location to shop for costumes and decorations.
Spirit Halloween, a seasonal retail chain, will open a store this month in the former Winn-Dixie location at the Gardens Park Plaza at Northlake Boulevard and Military Trail.
The company has not announced an opening date, but a spokesperson said the store will open before the end of September.
Spirit Halloween stores operate seasonally, typically in vacant retail spaces, and are open on average for 10 to 12 weeks each year. The company has an online marketplace that runs year-round.
The opening date and store hours for the Palm Beach Gardens location will be posted on the Spirit Halloween website, the spokesperson said.
Winn-Dixie
closed its longtime Palm Beach Gardens store in April, leaving Palm Beach County with four Winn-Dixie locations remaining. The company has closed dozens of stores statewide over the past year amid a corporate restructuring.
Prior to its closing, Winn-Dixie officials said shuttering the Gardens Park Plaza location was necessary to support the future success of the company.
Aldi purchased Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets, in 2024 as part of its plan to add more than 800 stores nationwide by 2028. It sold the company nearly a year later, but will continue converting some Winn Dixie locations into Aldi outlets.
A Winn-Dixie spokesperson said at the time of the Palm Beach Gardens store's closing that the store had never been in consideration to become an Aldi.
