The Norton Museum of Art has announced its upcoming events and exhibitions for September 2026. The museum will feature a variety of exhibitions, classes and performances throughout the month.
Several exhibitions will be on display through the fall and winter. "Danielle Mckinney: Shelter" will run through Oct. 4, and "RAW: In Retrospect" will be available through Sept. 27. Other exhibitions include "Cursed Images: Pictures Out of Context" through Nov. 1, "Art & Independence: America at 250" through Dec. 6, "Ralph Coburn: Land, Sea, Sky" through Jan. 3 and "Chang Dai-Chien: A Master of Modern Chinese Painting" through Jan. 30.
Art After Dark
Art After Dark will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays. Admission is free for members, $10 for adults and seniors, and $5
for students. The first Friday of the month will feature Jazz Friday, with tours scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. Open Studio art workshops will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., and artist tours will take place at 8 p.m. on the third Friday of the month.

Lectures and classes
The museum will host a lecture titled "Closer Look: Lisa Mazzola on Ralph Coburn: Land, Sea, Sky" from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 9. Lisa Mazzola, the William Randolph Hearst Chief Learning and Community Engagement Officer, will lead a discussion on the exhibition. Space is limited, and online registration is required.
Adult Sketch Classes will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 23 and Dec. 14. The classes will begin with a 30-minute talk on an artwork, followed by 90 minutes of independent sketching in the galleries. Participants are encouraged to bring a sketchbook no larger than 11 by 14 inches and pencils only. The cost is $45 for the general public and $25 for members.
Mindful Moments will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 21, Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7. Jodi Sypher will lead a mindfulness practice using a work of art as the object of attention. Museum admission is required, but members can attend for free. Space is limited, and online registration is required.
Family Autism Art Workshops will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. for grades K-6 and 3 to 4 p.m. for grades 7-12 Sundays, Sept. 13 and 27, Oct. 4 and 18, Nov. 1 and 22, and Dec. 6 and 20. The workshops are free and include gallery activities, an art workshop, free museum admission and autism supports. Space is limited, and online registration is required.
House of Leaves and Cursed Images: Pictures Out of Context will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Participants are encouraged to read Mark Z. Danielewski’s "House of Leaves" and join a discussion and gallery tour led by Norton Museum staff. E-books and e-audiobooks are available on the cloudLibrary app. The event is free, but space is limited and online registration is required.
Performances
The Hollywood Gems Film Series will feature "Apocalypse Now" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, follows a U.S. Army officer in Vietnam tasked with assassinating a renegade special forces colonel. The screening will take place in Stiller Auditorium, and museum admission is required.
