What is the story about?

There she is! The 2027 Miss America Pageant kicked off Saturday here in West Palm Beach.

The pageant announced in May that it would move its festivities, first held in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1921, to West Palm Beach through 2028. Most events will take place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

Women between the ages of 18-28 compete for a $50,000 scholarship and a year of appearances on behalf of the pageant. The field includes 52 contestants, one from each of the 50 states along with Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

The Miss America's Teen pageant also will take place in West Palm Beach during the week ahead. Contestants are between the ages of 13-18.

Judges will chose Miss America

2027 on Sunday, Sept. 6, in a ceremony starting at 7 p.m. at the convention center. Miss America's Teen will receive her crown on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Kravis Center with the festivities also starting at 7 p.m.

The Miss America contest is separate from Miss USA and Miss Universe. President Donald Trump's organization's co-owned those pageants for about 20 years before selling its interest about 10 years ago.

Tuesday, Sep. 1: Miss America's Teen Preliminary Competition, Kravis Center, 701 Okeechobee Boulevard, 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Sep. 2: Miss America Preliminary Competition, Kravis Center, 7 p.m.
Thursday, Sep. 3: Miss America's Got Talent Competition, Kravis Center, 5 p.m.
Friday, Sep. 4: Pre-Gala Red Carpet, Palm Beach County Convention Center, 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sep. 5: Miss America's Teen Final, Kravis Center, 7 p.m.
Sunday, Sep. 6: Miss America Final, Palm Beach County Convention Center, 7 p.m.
