El Paso is expected to get another round of heavy rain on the evening of Monday, Sept. 28.
The city received about 1.90 inches of rain last week, with the most rain on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
There is a 5% chance of rain for Monday, Sept. 28, rising to 65% between 6 p.m. and midnight. A second round of storms is expected Tuesday by noon as remnants of Hurricane Polo move through the region.
Drivers are reminded to stay cautious on roads with additional rain still in the forecast. Sandbags are still available to El Paso Water customers from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sunday, Oct. 4 at the following locations:
- Stormwater Operations Center, 4801 Fred Wilson Ave. in the Northeast.
- Artcraft Booster Station, 7830 Paseo Del Norte Blvd. on the West Side.
- Blackie Chesher Park, 1100 N. Zaragoza Road in the Lower Valley.
Limit 10 sandbags per visit. Must have valid identification. Be prepared to load your own sandbags.
El Paso County sandbags
The El Paso County Public Works Department offers
free sandbags to residents in the county's rural areas.
The sandbags are available 24 hours a day on pallets outside El Paso County’s Road and Bridge Warehouse locations:
- Fabens, 1331 N Fabens St.
- Canutillo, 191 Canutillo Ave.
- Montana Vista, 14698 Van Lane.
The limit is five bags per household, the county stated. To report flooding in rural areas of El Paso County, call the El Paso County Public Works Department at 915-273-3330.
Sandbags available in Socorro
Free sandbags are available to residents of Socorro at two locations, the city said via Facebook. Sandbags are distributed at:
- Rio Vista Center, 901 N. Rio Vista Road. Open 24 hours a day. Limited quantities available until supplies last.
- Recycling Center, 241 Old Hueco Tanks Road. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, Sept. 22-26.
Socorro residents must show proof of residency with a driver's license or a water or electric bill. Limit 10 bags per household.
