With a new football season, it's time to go over the rules of what to bring to the Sun Bowl Stadium and what to leave at home.
UTEP's football season opens on the road against Oklahoma, followed by the Miners' home opener against Texas Southern. UTEP's Homecoming game will also be played later in the season.

Where are the ATM machines?
ATMs are located on the stadium concourse at sections 13 and 25
UTEP football tickets
Fans can call 915-747-8837 and charge individual game tickets to a major credit card. They can also order individual game tickets online by visiting the official UTEP Athletics website at UTEPMiners.com/tickets.
In-Person: Tickets may be purchased at the Eisenberg Family Ticket Office, at the Brumbelow Building on the UTEP campus, 201 Glory Road. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Cash, personal checks, or major credit cards are accepted. Single game tickets start at $20.
Game Day Ticket Sales: In-person ticket sales will be available starting at 8 a.m. on game day at the Eisenberg Family Ticket Office until 3 hours prior to kickoff. North and South Sun Bowl box offices will open 3 hours prior to kickoff.
Children under 2 who are sitting on an adult's lap do not need a game ticket. Children who have reached their second birthday must have a valid game ticket to enter the stadium and are permitted seating access only in their ticketed location.
UTEP football parking and parking passes
Single Game Parking - Fans can purchase parking on game day in several lots, including DA1 (Special Accommodation), SB2, SB3, SB7, SB8, and Sun Bowl Garage for $25. The Goldmine Collective operates all single-game parking lots and sells tickets only on game days, via credit card, at the entrance of each lot. Free parking is offered on the south side of campus in lots SC1, SC2, SC3, SC4, RI4 and the Schuster Garage. Free parking is also available on the north side of campus in the SB10 lot off Sun Bowl Drive. Parking Map is online.
UTEP Miners football tailgating rules
Outer lots open at 8 a.m. on game day. Inner campus lots open at 12 p.m. Stadium premium seat entrances open 1.5 hours prior to kickoff. All other gates open one hour before kickoff.
One tailgate setup per parking space, including vehicle, canopies, and cooking area. Tailgating should occur within 4 feet in front of or behind your vehicle.
Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis unless specifically reserved through the Miner Athletic Club.
Glass containers are not allowed anywhere on campus during game days.
Kegs, beer balls, and other common-source containers are prohibited on campus and in tailgating areas. This includes beer funnels.

Amplified music must be confined to individual tailgate areas, and speakers must be directed into those areas. No DJs allowed.
Food and beverages shall be for personal consumption only. Sales are prohibited.
Hooking into, connecting to, or similar use of university utilities and/or television or communication cable services is prohibited.
Saving parking spots is prohibited; guests must arrive together to park together.
Individuals may not erect or move barricades, barrels, fencing, or any other traffic control devices. All parking signs and instructions must be obeyed and strictly followed.
Each tailgate party is responsible for securing tailgating items before entering the stadium.
Use of portable generators is limited to quiet units.
The individual(s) purchasing the tailgating/parking spot are responsible for their guests' conduct.
Use of ATVs, golf carts, gators, scooters, mopeds and other motorized recreational vehicles are prohibited. All trash from tailgates must be disposed of properly in designated containers.

Sun Bowl stadium rules on banners, flags and signs
Banners, flags and signs are permitted, provided they are football-related and in good taste as determined by UTEP Athletics.
They may not be hung or displayed on any part of the playing surface or in any way that obstructs another guest's view of the game or stadium advertising and must not pose a threat of injury to the guest or others. Flags affixed to poles or sticks are prohibited.
Clothing must not have offensive messages
Guests are prohibited from wearing or displaying profane or offensive materials. A guest may be asked to remove, reverse, cover or add clothing so the image or wording is no longer visible.
Items allowed at the Sun Bowl stadium
- Blankets
- Stadium seat cushions, no larger than 14x14 inches
- Sealed bottled water (plastic only; 1 per person)
- Clear bags (Details below)
- Portable phone power banks
- Handheld neck fans
- Small collapsible umbrellas (must fit in clear bag)
Clear bag policy remains at UTEP Sun Bowl
Approved bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12" in width by 6" in depth by 12" in height.
They can also be a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag or a smaller clutch bag approximately the size of a hand or smaller), with or without a handle or strap. It can be carried separately or within a clear bag.
Medical bags containing necessary health items are acceptable after proper inspection and approval by venue personnel/security at the Brumbelow Building, 201 Glory Road. 915-747-5347.
All other bags are prohibited when entering the venue.
Items not allowed
The following items are prohibited and may not be brought into the venue. These items would either need to be disposed of or returned to the fan's car or residence before entering the venue:
- Aerosol cans
- Animals (service dogs or service dogs in training permitted)
- Artificial noisemakers
- Balloons
- Bats, poles and sticks
- Car seats and baby strollers
- Coolers/ice chests
- Camera lenses larger than 4"
- E-cigarettes
- Firearms and fireworks
- Flags on poles
- Glass bottles
- Illegal drugs
- Laser pointers
- Lawn chairs
- Missile-like objects
- Objects that can be used as projectiles (i.e. balls)
- Outside food and beverages including alcohol (exceptions will be made for those with medical requirements and/or special needs)
- Scooters, strollers, bicycles, roller skates and skateboards
- Tobacco products
- Tripods, monopods and selfie sticks
- Umbrellas
- Unauthorized video cameras and drones
- Water bottles (one sealed, plastic water bottle permitted per patron)
- Weapons
- Any object that might pose a risk to the guest or others
Alcohol and smoking policy

Tailgating with alcohol will be allowed on the UTEP campus during home football games in designated parking lots. All alcohol must be kept in those designated parking lots and approved programmed tailgating areas. Open containers will not be allowed outside of these areas. As a safety measure, glass bottles are not allowed on campus.
In-Venue: Individuals 21 years of age or older may purchase alcohol inside the stadium at various vending locations. Texas law prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21.
Alcohol sales will cease at the end of the third quarter. No alcoholic beverages may be broughtthrough the gates of the stadium.
UTEP is a tobacco and smoke-free campus, and electronic cigarettes are not permitted.
Firearms and weapons
Handguns are strictly prohibited at UTEP Athletics games and events.
Buses and shuttle service
A free shuttle service will be provided from the SB10 parking area to the GR2 parking lot near the NorthSun Bowl entrance. The shuttle will begin service two hours prior to kickoff and stop one hour after the game ends.
