An ice cream parlor with a popular Mexican name, a Hawaiian poke place and a popular coffee franchise are among the new food-related businesses opening up in September.
La Reina de Michoacan, located on the East Side at 6670 Montana Ave. Ste 102, is opening its second location, this time in Socorro.
The Mexican ice cream shop opened on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9917 North Loop Drive in Socorro.
There are numerous ice cream and treat shops around El Paso with Michoacan in their name, but each is independently owned. They each pride themselves on the making of their ice cream and their flavors.
This new shop has more than 20 different flavors of paletas, including grape, strawberry, mango, mangonada, pecan, and pistachio. It also has a variety of ice creams,
including inviting flavors such as tres leches, Snickers, and cookies and cream.
Here are other new businesses opening in September.
New Pokeworks opens on East Side
El Paso's far East Side is welcoming a new Hawaiian rice-and-protein spot with the recent opening of Pokeworks at 14011 Pebble Hills Blvd. It is the second Pokeworks in El Paso; the other one is near UTEP at 6951 N. Mesa St.
Texas has become a major growth market for Pokeworks, which is the largest and fastest-growing fast-casual poke brand, according to franchising.com
Pokeworks has 26 locations open across Texas, with 11 franchisees operating statewide, and six more locations under construction in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso.
Second 7 Brew opening in El Paso
El Paso is getting a second 7 Brew, with a planned opening Monday, Sept. 14, according to the franchise's Facebook page.
The new location is at 12220 Eastlake Blvd., opposite another popular, relatively new Dutch Bros Coffee at 12221 Eastlake Blvd. The business is a drive-thru-only coffee stand in approximately 510 square feet.
Northeast El Paso welcomed 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee in June at 9061 Dyer St. 7 Brew offers a wide variety of coffees, energy drinks, fizzes, teas, lemonades, smoothies and shakes.
According to social media, a third one is planned for 1830 N. Zaragoza Road, Suite 101. It is estimated to open in November.
