Two fourth quarter scores — one on offense and the other an interception returned for a score — broke open an excellent football game between Coronado High School and Del Valle High School.
The teams were at halftime (7-7) and tied going into the fourth quarter (14-14).
Coronado’s Christian Frias scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to break the tie. Gabriel Chavando then returned an interception for a touchdown, giving Coronado a 28-14 win over Del Valle on Friday, Sept. 18, at Del Valle High School.
The teams were scoreless after the first quarter, but they battled for the remainder of Del Valle's homecoming game.
Up next for Del Valle and Coronado
Del Valle will play against Americas at Del Valle at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Coronado will play against Socorro at SAC
1 at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24.
