An El Paso man accused of stabbing his mother to death told detectives that he hated her and was "triggered" during an argument at a South-Central area home, court documents stated.
Juan Valles Valenzuela, 30, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the Saturday, Aug. 1, murder of his mother, Eva Valles Valenzuela, 68, at a home in the 300 block of Cargill Street near Ascarate Park, a complaint affidavit states.
El Paso Police Department officials have not officially announced Juan Valenzuela's arrest or released his jail booking photo.
Juan Valenzuela was booked into the El Paso County jail on Sunday, Aug. 2, on a $350,000 bond. He remains jailed as of Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Marc Rosales, who is listed as Juan Valenzuela's attorney, did
not immediately respond to a message left with his office.
'I killed my mom'
Officers responded to a 911 call regarding an unknown problem before 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, in the 300 block of Cargill Street.
Juan Valenzuela allegedly called 911 and told the operator, "I killed my mom" and "come pick me up," a criminal complaint affidavit states.
Officers arrived at the house and ordered Juan Valenzuela to come out of the house. Juan Valenzuela exited the house as he continued to talk to emergency dispatchers. Officers took him into custody.
The officers entered the home and found Eva Valenzuela on the kitchen floor with "multiple puncture wounds to her body," the affidavit states. A knife was next to Eva Valenzuela with what appeared to be blood on it.
El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit took over the investigation.
'Please tell me you did not kill your mom'
Juan Valenzuela's friend was interviewed by detectives. The friend had called 911 to report his concerns over Juan Valenzuela's mental state after another friend called him, saying Juan Valenzuela may have been suicidal.
The concerns came when the friend received a call from Juan Valenzuela, but was unable to answer the call. The friend called Juan Valenzuela back multiple times, but the suspect did not answer.
The friend was able to get ahold of Juan Valenzuela, who allegedly said "I killed someone," the affidavit states. The friend replied that Juan Valenzuela should not play or joke around about something like that.
"Guess who I killed?," Juan Valenzuela asked a friend, the affidavit states.
"Please tell me you did not kill your mom," the friend replied.
The friend told police that Juan Valenzuela had previously said he hated his mother and "just wanted her dead so he would not have to deal with her anymore."
Juan Valenzuela allegedly told the friend that he had killed his mom and he "had not felt anything," the affidavit states.
Officers took Juan Valenzuela to police headquarters for questioning.

Juan Valenzuela told officers he was helping his mother put away groceries in the kitchen when the mom dropped sodas in the sink.
He claimed his mother kept yelling and got mad at him, so he started to get mad at his mother, the affidavit states.
Juan Valenzuela told officers he got "triggered," grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his mother in the neck multiple times, the affidavit states.
He added that he called his friends, telling them this would be the last time he was going to talk to them.
Juan Valenzuela allegedly told officers "he had hatred" for his mother.
