Week 5 of the high school football season is here. Teams will play 10 regular-season games with one week off.
Here is a look at the games scheduled for this week: Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25.
Coronado (2-2) vs.Socorro (2-1), 7 p.m. Thursday at SAC 1
Coronado will look for its third straight win in the District 1-6A opener between the two teams. The defense has been steady for the Thunderbirds and the offense has playmakers at receiver. Socorro will rely on a strong offense to try and offset the Coronado defense. Coronado 31, Socorro 21
Americas (1-3) vs. Del Valle (2-2), 7 p.m. Thursday at Del Valle HS
Both teams have played a strong early schedule. Del Valle has been led in part by QB Eric Hernandez and Americas has been led by QB Maurice Edwards. Whichever team wins the turnover battle will win the game. Del Valle 35, Americas 28
Eastlake (4-0) vs. Eastwood (3-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Eastwood HS
Both teams enter the District
1-6A opener with momentum. Eastwood is the defending district champion and is experienced on both sides of the ball. The Troopers are coming off a 64-point showing vs. Americas. Eastlake's best win this year came against West Texas power Midland Lee. Eastwood has shown a more consistent ability to stop opposing offenses, and that could be key in this high-level game. Pebble Hills (3-1) vs. Montwood (0-4), 7 p.m. Friday at SAC 2
Pebble Hills has quality wins vs. Chapin, Midland High and Hanks and a competitive loss to Odessa Permian. Montwood is giving its best effort each week, but can't find consistent play on either side of the ball. Pebble Hills 42, Montwood 24
El Dorado (2-2) vs. Chapin (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Irvin HS
El Dorado has two losses by a total of 13 points and quarterback Brycen Booth is helping lead the way. Chapin has played a tough schedule with a win vs. Franklin and competitive losses to Riverside, Andress and Pebble Hills. El Dorado 44, Chapin 37
Andress (4-0) vs. Burges (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Burges HS
Andress has defeated four really good teams, Las Cruces Centennial, Franklin, Americas and Chapin, behind a strong offense and improving defense. Burges has played a tough schedule to prepare for the rigors of District 1-5A, Division 2, and has been good at times but needs more consistency. Andress is in the midst of a potentially unbeaten regular season. Andress 45, Burges 31
Clint (1-3) vs. Austin (4-0), 7 p.m. Friday at Austin HS
Austin has allowed just 48 points in its four wins and has played its usual brand of physical defense. Clint broke through last week with 20-0 win vs. previously unbeaten Cathedral. This game features two strong running teams, but Austin's overall defense might be the difference. Austin 28, Clint 17
Seminole (2-2) vs. Riverside (2-1), 6:30 p.m. Friday at Riverside HS
Riverside and Seminole will likely be a shootout. Riverside has scored 41, 44 and 67 points in its three games and Seminole has scored 62, 44, 24 and 55 in its four games. Riverside 49, Seminole 45
Irvin (2-2) vs. San Elizario (2-2), 7 p.m. Friday at San Elizario HS
The Rockets just missed a win vs. 4-0 Austin on Sept. 19, losing 22-20. Irvin looks to finish non-district play with a winning record. San Elizario has been much improved with first-year coach Angel Gonzalez and has already surpassed its win total for 2025. Irvin 26, San Elizario 17
Mountain View (2-2) vs. Ysleta (3-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Ysleta HS
Mountain View could easily be 4-0, having lost two games by a total of three points. The Lobos have won two straight after losing the first two games of the season to Ysleta. which went 10-1 in 2025, has defeated two out-of-town opponents in Fort Stockton and Big Spring. The lone loss for Ysleta was against 3-1 Hanks. Ysleta 42, Mountain View 28
Bel Air (1-3) vs. Bowie (0-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Bowie HS
After an 0-2 start, Bel Air is improving, having defeated El Paso High and putting a scare into 4-0 Eastlake before losing, 61-43. Bowie has struggled all season to find consistency on either side of the ball. Hanks. Bel Air 45, Bowie 24
Canutillo (3-1) vs. Hanks (3-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Hanks HS
The Knights have scored 44, 66,63 and 79 points in its four games behind an experienced offense. Canutillo tries to slow things down with its run game and a physical defense. Hanks' only loss was to Pebble Hills and Canutillo's only loss was to Eastwood. Hanks 38, Canutillo 35
El Paso High (1-2) vs. Parkland (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Parkland HS
The Matadors have shown potential to score big in a 44-41 win at Riverside and in 35-34 loss at home to Hobbs (NM). The Matadors look to end a three-game losing streak against the Tigers, who must find a way to slow the game down and improve on offense. The Tigers' lone win came vs. Clint. Parkland 45, El Paso High 31
Jefferson (2-2) vs. Horizon (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Horizon HS
The Silver Foxes lost a tough 23-19 game to Irvin and could easily be 3-1. Jefferson's defense has allowed just six points in its two wins. Horizon is still trying to find consistency on offense. Jefferson 26, Horizon 14
Fabens (1-3) vs. Tornillo (0-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Tornillo HS
Fabens played decent on defense for the most part this season, but the offense hasn't been consistent. Tornillo isn't playing a full schedule for the third straight year and isn't in a district. The Coyotes are playing their second game of the season and lost their first game on Sept. 4 to Van Horn. Fabens 31, Tornillo 19
Anthony (1-3) vs. Capitan, New Mexico (2-2), 7 p.m. Friday at Anthony HS
In its first three games, Anthony improved in each one, then finally broke through in the win column last week with a 14-6 win at Van Horn. In its two wins this season, Capitan has allowed just 19 points but is coming off a 43-0 loss to Mesilla Valley Christian. Anthony 24, Capitan 21
