With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.
This week, readers can vote for who could be the 2026 top team in high school football. Voting ends at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Here are the nominees:
- LJ Bailey, Pebble Hills. Bailey will be a leader for the Spartans in 2026.
- Alex Robles, Hanks. Robles is part of a strong offense for the Knights.
- Izzy Garcia, Riverside, Riverside. Will be a top target for QB Carlos Rojas.
- Jordan Nava, Eastwood. Will be a leader for the defending District 1-6A champs.
- Silas Thomas, Ysleta. Will be a top target for the Indians offense.
- Ruben Castro, Mountain View. Big things are expected for Castro.
- Marquette Beard, Bel Air. Could be poised for big season.
- Miguel Esqueda, Montwood. Esqueda could be ine for more than 1,000 yards receiving.
- Santiago Perez, Franklin. Perez will be counted on heavily to help lead the Cougars.
- CJ Frescas, Coronado. Frescas will be a top target for the Thunderbirds.
- Aavant Clayton, Andress. Clayton will be key to the success of the Andress offense.
- Corwon Martin, Chapin. Martin will be productive leader for the Huskies.
