Target storesin El Paso are getting multimillion-dollar makeovers, according to a recent report and state filings.
The George Dieter Drive store is slated for more than $4.5 million in renovations beginning in February 2027, the San Antonio Express-News reported, citing a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
. The project includes interior renovations to the sales floor, fitting rooms and restrooms.It’s not the only El Paso Target to undergo a makeover.
The Gateway Boulevard store inside Bassett Place in Central El Paso has had more than $2.1 million in renovations this year, the Express News reported. The Joe Battle Boulevard store in Far East El Paso also underwent a $4.3 million remodel in 2022 and a parking expansion
the following year, additional filings show.
Target plans $5 billion in renovations at more than 130 stores
Targetannounced in May that it is ramping up the pace of remodels this year, which will bring customers an "elevated shopping experience." The retailer will spend approximately $5 billion this year toward 130-plus remodels and 30 new stores, Target said in a news release.
"It’s a bigger transformation for our stores than at any point in the past decade, with updated layouts that are easier to navigate and discover the best of Target’s style, design and value," the news release said.
Here's what's coming to many locations as part of the remodels, according to Target.
- An expanded dry grocery selection, as well as everyday essentials and pantry staples. Some locations will also get larger fresh and frozen food sections, making Target an even more convenient, one-stop destination.
- Modern décor and fixtures and specialty LED lighting to create a shopping experience that is both hip and cool, warm and inviting, with new signage to navigate the store easily and quickly.
- Engaging merchandise displays throughout the store — including in apparel and accessories, beauty and home — to highlight our elevated style.
- Updated spaces and expanded services to support Order Pickup, Drive Up and Exchanges & Returns, along with updates to our traditional checkout and Express Self-Checkout lanes to improve their flow and convenience.
- Modernized guest amenities including restrooms along with designated nursing spaces.
- In select locations, Target is introducing natural refrigeration systems, more efficient lighting and HVAC systems that not only help reduce emissions but also energy costs.
