El Paso police arrested three young men on suspicion of capital murder in connection with a double-fatal shooting at Tom Lea Upper Park in Central El Paso earlier this month.
Officers arrested Manuel Canedo, 17, Jose Emmanuel Saldana, 19, and Jesus Ivan Lopez, 20, on suspicion of capital murder, El Paso Police Department spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release.
The shooting happened about 3:40 a.m. on Sept. 12 at Tom Lea Upper Park at 900 E. Rim Road.
The men allegedly fatally shot Joshua Michael Himes, 20, and Francisco Javier Ignacio, 20, during a fight while a group of people was drinking at the park, the news release states. The suspects fled the shooting before officers arrived. The officers found the two victims dead with
gunshot wounds on the road.
The suspects were booked into the El Paso County jail on Friday, Sept. 18. Saldana and Lopez are being held without bond.
Canedo appeared before a magistrate judge for a teleconference bond hearing on Friday, Sept. 18. The judge set Canedo's bond at $750,000.
