President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Republicans has fallen to a new low, according to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
The survey, conducted from July 23-27, found that 78% of Republicans approve
of Trump’s performance. However, only 19% said they are enthusiastic about the remainder of his second term, down from 38% last spring, CNN reported.
According to CNN, 73% of US adults say that Trump hasn’t paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems, with just 27% saying he’s had the right priorities.
Trump’s overall approval rating, 34%, matches the career low he last saw at the close of his first term, the poll found.
"While his ratings are underwater across a range of issues tested, Trump sees his lowest numbers on a trio of interconnected issues: Just 28% approve of his handling of the situation in Iran, 25% on inflation and 21% on gas prices, with significant pockets of disapproval even among his supporters," CNN reported.
CNN's poll comes as a CBS News/YouGov survey found many Americans believe their incomes are failing to keep pace with inflation and that the Trump administration is not prioritizing efforts to lower prices.
The survey was conducted between July 22-24 and asked a sample of more than 2,100 adults across the nation. When asked if their income is keeping up with inflation, 75% of respondents said no.
Similarly, when asked if the Trump administration is focused enough on lowering prices, 78% of Americans also answered no. Most also disagree on tariffs imposed by President Trump, with 64% not in favor.
When it comes to Trump's overall rating, 39% approve of his job performance, while 61% disapprove.
