With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.
This week, readers can vote for the Boys Athlete of the Week in football and cross country for the week of Sept. 8-12.

Here are this week's nominees:
- Mason Rubio, Austin football. The quarterback threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns in win vs. Bowie.
- Christian Frias, Coronado football. In win vs. Burges, he had 220 total return yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
- Angel Dominguez, Bel Air football. In win vs. El Paso High, Dominguez passed for291 yards, rushed for 114 yards and threw four touchdown passes.
- Carlos Rojas III, Riverside football. In win vs. Chapin he rushed for 370 yards and four touchdowns.
- AJ Guzman, Ysleta football. In win vs. Fort Stockton, he had 118 yards receiving and a TD catch. On defense, he had solo tackles.
- Julian Williams, Eastlake football. In win vs. Midland Lee, he passed for 472 yards and threw seven touchdown passes.
- Sylas Reyes, Canutillo football. In win vs. Parkland, he rushed for 151 yards and two scores.
- Dre Acosta, Socorro football. In win vs. Horizon, he had 15 tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.
- Izzy Amaro, Americas football. In win vs. Montwood, he had 15 tackles.
- Armando Jalil, Clint High School XC. He placed first at Saturday's (Sep. 12) Cathedral/Loretto XC meet in a competitive field for his third this season.
