Ken Paxton to bring campaign tour to El Paso. Here’s when and where

Attorney General Ken Paxton is bringing his U.S. Senate campaign to El Paso with a stop on his statewide tour.

Paxton’s “Protecting the Texas Promise” tour is scheduled to stop in El Paso on Wednesday,

Sept. 30, at the Summit Ballroom & Conference Center, 120 N. Festival Drive. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the event begins at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and spots can be reserved here.

Paxton will have a guest join him — Brandon Herrera, the Republican nominee for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, which includes El Paso. Herrera is a gun-rights advocate and YouTuber known online as “The AK Guy."

The tour promotes Paxton’s economic plan designed to increase affordability, an issue that has risen to the top of most Texas voters' list of priorities, El Paso Times previously reported. Paxton says the plan would put thousands of dollars back in Texans’ pockets.

The following are some of the key points in Paxton's plan, according to The Texas Tribune:

A $25,000 deduction for any out-of-pocket medical expense, including premiums, for individuals, with an additional $25,000 per dependent;
A $5,000 tax deduction to stimulate healthy lifestyle choices where taxpayers could deduct workout and gym expenses, spending related to nutrition plans, payments for sports activities for dependents, and the cost of GLP-1 weight-loss medications;
A $50,000 deduction for first-time homebuyers and a $50,000 deduction on down payments for people moving to a new primary residence.

Paxton's Democratic opponent, James Talarico has also announced a plan to lower costs that includes making billionaires and corporations pay more taxes and raising the tax on corporate stock buybacks, raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, expanding the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit, and repealing President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Talarico visited El Paso on July 11, where he held a rally at the Plaza Theatre in Downtown El Paso. He was also spotted at Northeast Bible Restoration Church and was pictured addressing parishioners and shaking hands with church members.
