Democratic candidate for Texas governor Gina Hinojosa is scheduled to make multiple appearances in El Paso, including a town hall, a university event and a news conference focused on data centers in Texas.
Hinojosa is scheduled to participate in a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday , Aug. 31, outside the El Paso County Courthouse , 500 E. San Antonio Ave., focused on data centers in Texas. She is also expected to visit the University of Texas at El Paso at noon for an event open to students, then join a town hall at 6 p.m. at Firefighters Hall, 3112 Forney Lane.
The UTEP event for students will also feature former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke to bolster support for a blue wave in Texas. The opportunity to meet with current and former Democratic candidates
for Texas governor is being organized by the UTEP College Democrats and the Gina for Texas campaign.

Six new polls this month show a virtual tie between Hinojosa and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the race for Texas governor.
Gov. Abbott also visited El Paso on Aug. 19 to discuss education and what he called "bloated" school district budgets, taking aim at El Paso Independent School District. That was the second visit this month, with another on Aug. 5, to discuss spurring home building in the state.
