A new spot for gas is heading to Northeast El Paso.
Circle K got its start in El Paso in 1951 when Fred Hervey bought three Kay's Food Stores. By 1975, there were 1,000 Circle K stores across the U.S., and four years later, the brand entered the international market.
After being acquired by Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2003, Circle K expanded to over 20 countries, becoming one of the most recognized convenience store brands on the market.
Where is it?
The new Circle K will be located at 14387 Montwood Drive in East El Paso, according to the city's permit and licensing page.
Located in a largely residential area, the new Circle K is located at the corner of Montwood Drive and Yarbrough Drive, just across the street from an Albertson's and a Goodwill thrift store. Just down the road are Green Family Dental and Eastwood High School.
What was there before?
The new Circle K on Montwood Drive is being built atop a currently vacant lot.
Plans call for the construction of a 5,200-square-foot convenience store and a fuel canopy with 14 fueling stations, as well as a trash enclosure.
Who is the contractor?
The city's website does not list a contractor for the project, but the applicant is listed as Karla McCommon of The Dimension Group in Dallas, Texas. The owner is listed as Ranchos Real Investment Properties LLC in El Paso.
The project is valued at $3 million.
