A 55-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash after hitting a curb in West El Paso, police said.
The crash occurred while Salvador De Leon was riding a 2023 Indian Motorcycle on North Desert Boulevard, north of North Mesa Street, about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, Officer Adrian Cisneros, an El Paso Police Department spokesman, said in a news release.
An investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit found that De Leon struck a curb, lost control and the motorcycle went into a landscaped median between North Desert and an on-ramp to Interstate 10, police said.
De Leon, who ended up on the freeway on-ramp in the crash, was transported to a hospital, where he died, police
said.
STI officers suspect that speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, police said. The investigation continues.
The death was the 51st traffic-related fatality in El Paso this year compared with 46 at the same time in 2025, police said. It was one of five traffic deaths in the city over the weekend.
