El Paso hotels still owe millions in delinquent Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) payments.
The El Paso City Council will receive a report during its meeting Tuesday, Sept. 29, showing that a total of 19 hotels owe more than $2.2 million in HOT payments as of Aug. 31, 2026, down from more than $3.1 million at the end of May.
Of the 19 hotels still in arrears on HOT payments, 13 are being pursued by outside legal collection firms with the remainder in the hands of the city's Comptroller Office.
The following is a list of the delinquent hospitality companies and how much is owed as of Aug. 31, according to a document accompanying the City Council's agenda:

El Paso to pursue Meta grant
Also on Tuesday, the City Council
will mull applying for a grant from Meta's "Future is for Everyone" fund.
The award would come out to $4 million to be used to for the El Paso Climate Action Implementation Program, with no matching funds required from the city.
The item is a continuation of a City Council work session item on Sept. 14, when Meta released a request for proposals to its grant program. Applications are due by Oct. 19. Additionally, the grant consideration builds on the City Council's plan to pursue a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) between the company and El Paso.
