With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.
This week, readers can vote for the Girls Athlete of the Week in volleyball and cross country for the week of Aug. 25-29.

Here are this week's nominees:
- Casey Saenz, Hanks volleyball. Against Riverside, she recorded 3 kills, 1 ace, 18 assists, and 16 digs. She continued her exceptional play throughout the Hussmann Tournament, finishing the weekend with 39 kills, 8 aces, 67 assists, and 81 digs.
- Alexis Renovato, Canutillo cross country. She finished second at the SISD cross-country meet with a time of 20:03.00.
- Camila Pena, Burges cross country. She finished third at the SISD cross-country meet with a time of 20:23.00.
- Maya Bemis, El Paso High volleyball. In the match vs. Montwood, she had 12 kills, eight digs, and an ace.
- Natalia Ruiz, El Dorado volleyball. She had 29 digs and three aces in a win vs. Pebble Hills.
- Kaylee Vasquez, Chapin volleyball. In the match vs. Eastwood, she had 21 kills and three blocks.
- Abby Martinez, Ysleta volleyball. In match vs. Del Valle, she had 20 kills, nine digs and four aces.
- Jazmyne Grimes, Andress volleyball. In win vs. Jefferson, she had 22 digs, 11 kills and an ace.
- Katia Valero, Eastwood. In the match vs. Chapin, she had 14 kills and 11 digs.
- Kendyl Kelly, Eastlake volleyball. In the match vs. Burges, she had 18 kills, seven digs, and two service aces.
