A 14-year-old boy was stabbed leading to a SWAT standoff in the Upper Valley and a shooting between Northeast neighbors was part of a violent evening in El Paso.
A woman in her 40s was taken into custody about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, when the SWAT team entered a home after a more than four-hour-long standoff, El Paso police said.
El Paso police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said the incident began about 5:45 p.m. when officers responded to a call of a stabbing and arrived to find the 14-year-old boy wounded inside a home in the 400 block of Nordstrom Avenue.
The address is in a neighborhood near Canutillo High School. The wounded boy was
transported to a hospital.
Another boy and girl were also inside the home along with a woman in her 40s, who barricaded herself inside the garage, police said.
The name of the woman was not disclosed as well as further details regarding the stabbing as an investigation continued overnight.
Northeast El Paso neighbor shooting
A man in his 50s was taken into custody after a man in his 40s was wounded in a shooting during a dispute between neighbors in Northeast El Paso, Oviedo said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at a home in the 10300 block of Windsor Drive, next to Sun Valley Drive next to Andress High School, Oviedo said.
The man wounded in the shooting was taken to a hospital, Oviedo said. The other man was taken into custody. The shooting is under investigation by detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit.
