Skinny's BBQ, a food truck to brick-and-mortar success story, is going to be featured on America's Best Restaurants.
America's Best Restaurants is an online streaming show that travels across the country, telling the stories of locally owned, independent restaurants that make a positive impact in their communities. ABR features restaurants across its social media platforms, channels, website, and the restaurant’s own digital platforms.
Skinny's BBQ owner Jason Chavez is looking forward to being highlighted by the show. Chavez began barbecuing for friends and family, then moved to a food truck, and now to two established businesses.
Chavez opened the first Skinny's BBQ restaurant in August of 2022 at 1320 N. Zaragoza Road, Suite 105, and the new
one opened in May of this year at 13650 Eastlake Blvd. Suite 110.
"It's hard to believe that something that started with cooking in the backyard and sharing plates with neighbors has grown into what it is today. We're grateful for everyone who supported us along the way and helped turn a passion into a business," Chavez said in an email.
The show will be filmed in early October and feature some popular dishes such as the El Flaco Sandwich, The El Vaquero Burger, and the Texas Trinity Plate. The El Flaco, the restaurant's first sandwich, features a combination of three smoked meats—brisket, pulled pork, and sausage—topped with candied pecan coleslaw and Hatch chili queso. The El Vaquero, made with a 100% ground brisket patty, is stacked with cheese, bacon, and a house-made sweet heat drizzle known as cowgirl candy, which adds a unique twist to the burger experience.
In addition to their flavorful barbecue, Skinny's BBQ is committed to community engagement. Each year, they host the Harvest of Hope event, providing free smoked Thanksgiving meals to local families, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a holiday feast. They actively support local schools and community organizations throughout the year, reflecting their belief in giving back to the community that has supported them since the beginning.
The premiere date will be announced on the restaurant's Facebook page and America's Best Restaurants' website.
