The wave of closures affecting longtime El Paso businesses shows no signs of slowing. International Bar, a Downtown fixture, is preparing to shut its doors, ending a 10-year run as a popular gathering place.
Whiskey Dick's, a country western bar, announced it was closing last week. Muttz Canine Social Club announced it was closing on Sept. 14.
The owners of International Bar, at 114 E. Mills Ave., announced Saturday, Sept. 19, that the bar will close permanently on Sept. 27.
"We won't forget the memories created here by our staff and you, our loyal, supportive customers. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of every moment you celebrated with us, including weekends, weddings, graduations, concerts, holiday gatherings and more," the Instagram
post stated. "From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who made International what it was."
The bar, directly across from San Jacinto Plaza, is known for being a casual craft-cocktail bar with a rooftop view overlooking Downtown. The rooftop area was associated with an energetic atmosphere with DJs, dancing and weekend crowds.
