A new housing complex is coming to El Paso's East Side.
The Housing Authority of El Paso, also known as HOME, was established in 1938 to provide low-cost housing to low-income residents of El Paso. Today, HOME is the 14th largest public housing authority in the nation, providing homes for over 52,000 residents across 99 communities.

Over the past decade, HOME has been recognized multiple times by the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development as a high performer in both the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs and has received praise from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials with numerous Awards of Merit and one Award of Excellence.
Where is it?
The new Eastside Crossings Apartments will be located at 2055 North Zaragoza Road in East El Paso, according to the city's permit and licensing page.
Though situated in a largely residential area, Eastside Crossings Apartments will be located just across the street from a Crunch Fitness. The apartment complex is just down the street from an Academy Sports and Outdoors store, Yum Yum Sushi, Lin's Grand Buffet, and a Sprouts location.
What was there before?
The new apartment complex is being built on a currently vacant lot.
Plans call for the construction of 41 apartment units across two buildings on a 1.76-acre lot. The scope of work includes site work, grading and drainage, walkways, landscaping and irrigation, and parking.
The apartment buildings will be concrete slab-on-grade with lumber framing and exterior cement board, manufacturer-supplied stone veneer and stucco finishes, and asphalt shingle roofing. The interior includes painted drywall, luxury vinyl tile throughout and ceramic tiles in bathrooms.
Who is the contractor?
The city's website does not list the contractor for the project, but the applicant is Robert Garland III of Wright and Dalbin Architects in El Paso. The owner is listed as Housing Opportunity Management Enterprises, or HOME.
The project is valued at $6.9 million.
