A new convenience store is coming to El Paso's Lower Valley.
7 Eleven was founded in 1927 in Dallas, Texas, as Southland Ice Company. Between 1928 and 1946, the company expanded its convenience store offerings under the name Tote'm Stores before officially changing the name to 7 Eleven in 1946.
Now headquartered in Irving, Texas, 7 Eleven boasts more than 85,000 stores across 19 countries. Locally, 7 Elevens were rebranded as DK
stores in February 2023 and many of those have shifted to the OXXO brand in recent months.
Where is it?
The new 7 Eleven will be located at 378 Padres Drive in El Paso's Lower Valley, according to the city's permit and licensing page.
Located just off of Loop 375, the new 7 Eleven is just down the street from a Dollar Tree in a largely residential area.
What was there before?
The new 7 Eleven is being atop a currently vacant lot.
Plans call for construction of a one-story convenience store building with fuel sales.
Who is the contractor?
The contractor is not listed on the city's site, but the applicant for the project is Melissa Chavez of The Dimension Group in Dallas, Texas. The owner is listed as Padres 375 Retail Partners Ltd.
The project is valued at $1.2 million.
