President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 37% — the lowest for a president heading into a midterm election in Wall Street Journal polling dating back to 1990, according to the WSJ.
The poll conducted Sept. 16–21, also found that 61% disapprove of Trump’s job performance. His rating is below the comparable figure for President George W. Bush before the 2006 midterm elections, when Democrats won control of both the House and Senate, the WSJ reported.
A separate poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows Americans are most concerned about the economy and cost of living, with 17% of U.S. adults approving of Trump’s handling of the cost of living. Meanwhile 26% approve of his handling of the economy overall
— the lowest rating on that issue in the poll. The AP-NORC survey was conducted Sept. 24–28 among 2,140 adults.
