An El Paso woman died in a fiery crash after she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a light pole on the border highway in the Lower Valley, authorities said.
Celeste Dion Dominguez, 33, was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 at 12:18 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, when she lost control of her car on the border highway section of Loop 375 near Midway Drive in the Lower Valley, El Paso Police Department spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release.
Dominguez was driving east on the border highway when she "for unknown reasons" veered right and drove off the roadway, according to the news release. She struck a high-mast light pole.
The Mazda stopped on the Midway on-ramp and caught
fire. Dominguez died in the crash.
Police believe speed and alcohol are possible factors in this crash, the news release states. The police's Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the crash.
This is the 50th traffic-related death of 2026, compared to 46 at this same time last year.
