La Union Maze has postponed its opening after heavy rain left the farm too muddy to safely welcome visitors.
The New Mexico attraction near El Paso said on social media that it will be closed Saturday, Sept. 26, its initial opening day for the 2026 season. The farm draws in hundresds families for its pumpkin patches, corn mazes, slides and other activities.
It hopes to open Sunday, Sept. 27, weather permitting.
“We’ll continue monitoring conditions and keep everyone updated,” La Union Maze said.
Online tickets purchased for Saturday will be honored on any other operating day during the farm’s 2026 season.
“We are incredibly sorry for the disappointment and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding,” the farm said. “The safety of our guests
and team will always come first.”
Storms are expected to be more scattered through the weekend, but saturated ground leaves much of the area vulnerable to heavy runoff, according to the National Weather Service. Drier conditions are forecast for Saturday and Sunday, with rain chances and the risk of flooding expected to increase early next week.
