The NFL's opening weekend had its usual share of surprises, from the preseason Super Bowl favorites Los Angeles Rams getting routed by San Francisco in Australia, the Dallas Cowboys laying an egg on Sunday Night Football and the lowly Arizona Cardinals topping Super Bowl darkhorse San Diego.
The Detroit Lions avoided the upset bug when it pulled out an overtime victory against the New Orleans Saints, and now will try to pull the surprise when it opens Week 2 with a Thursday night trip to Buffalo. The week ends with one of Week 1's biggest surprises, the New York Giants, taking on a Rams team looking for a big-time rebound.
