A Canutillo steakhouse inspected by El Paso health inspectors in August had several violations, including improper storage of raw meat, unlabeled chemical spray bottles and uncovered food containers in storage.
DVC Mexican Grill Steakhouse, 420 Talbot Ave., received a 68 in an inspection conducted on Aug. 24.
A score of 70 or above is passing. A score of 60 or below will trigger the establishment's closure.
An inspection conducted on any given day may not represent the establishment's overall, long-term conditions. Restaurants that fail inspections are given an opportunity to address the violations for reinspection.

The following inspection was conducted on Aug. 24, and the restaurant received a score of 68.
- Observed eggs inside walk in refrigerator at 56°F overnight. Observed horchata made of milk and rice at 60°F. The food handler stated that the walk-in was being cleaned with the door open. Hold order issued.
- Observed chicken, queso, and baked potatoes at 92 degrees. The food handler stated they were there for less than 30 minutes.
- Observed raw meat stored above produce inside walk in refrigerator.
- Observed food-like residue on dine-in plates stored on the rack by the three-compartment sink. Observed can opener blade with food-like residue by the cooking area.
- Food handlers unaware of food safety knowledge and/or responsibilities.
- Observed an unlabeled spray bottle containing a liquid by the three-compartment sink.
- Observed no prep dates and discard dates for various guisados stored inside the walk-in refrigerator.
- Observed no thermometer inside the display refrigerator and the walk-in refrigerator.
- Observed broken food bins storing food by the cooking area and under the prep table by the raw meat refrigerator.
- Observed employee wearing hand jewelry.
- Observed soiled rags left on counters and prep tables throughout establishment.
- Observed several uncovered containers of food in the walk-in refrigerator and inside the reach-in refrigerator. Observed food bins storing food on the floor inside walk in refrigerator.
- Observed clean food equipment stored on racks containing food-like and dust-like residue. Observed clean dine-in plates with grease-like residue by the prep table refrigerator by the cooking area. Observed walk in refrigerator at 53 degrees. Observed front display at 54 degrees. Observed display refrigerator at 60 degrees. Hold order issued.
- Observed food like residue inside chest freezers and throughout refrigerators. Observed debris and food residue on equipment door handles throughout the establishment.
- Observed accumulated grease dripping from hood system vents.
- Observed dumpster with lid open.
- Observed floor in disrepair throughout establishment kitchen/prep areas. Observed hole on wall by prep table near cooking area.
