A 72-year-old driver died at a hospital from injuries in a single-car crash in Northeast El Paso over the weekend, police said.
Jose Arpero Ramos, of Northeast El Paso, was fatally injured in a crash about 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, near the intersection of Railroad Drive and McCombs Street, an El Paso police news release by Officer Adrian Cisneros stated on Monday, Sept. 28.
The police Special Traffic Investigations Unit determined that Ramos was driving a 2023 Nissan Altima northbound on Railroad Drive when, for unknown reasons, the car crossed the double-yellow line at the intersection with McCombs, police reported.
The car hit two yellow barriers before crashing
head-on into a guardrail, where it stopped, police said. Ramos was transported to a hospital, where he died.
The crash was the 46th traffic-related death in El Paso this year, matching the same number at the same period in 2025, police noted.
