Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico continues to lead in the Texas U.S. Senate battle.
A new poll from Texas Public Opinion Research (TPOR) released Friday, Sept. 25, shows Talarico with a five-point lead over Republican rival Ken Paxton with less than six weeks to go before the Nov. 3 General Election. The poll surveyed 1,007 likely Texas voters between Sept. 19 and Sept. 23.
The poll found 49% of respondents backing Talarico compared to 44% for Paxton, a slight decrease over the six-point advantage he held in TPOR's August poll.
Independent voters continue to be a boon to Talarico's campaign, with the latest poll showing the Democrat up by a whopping 32-points among the voting bloc, 58%-26%. Paxton continues to lead among white voters over
55, while Talarico holds the advantage among Black and Latino voters, voters under 55, college-educated voters, and both men and women.
When asked which candidate would do a better job of tackling the affordability crisis and improving the situation for everyday Texans, 49% said Talarico, compared to 42% for Paxton.
On issues related to data centers and artificial intelligence, 45% of respondents said Talarico would do a better job versus 40% for Paxton.
