Theopening week of the 2026 high school football season is in the books and there were several top performances by athletes in El Paso.
Here is a look at 15 of the top performances on Thursday, Aug. 27 and Friday, Aug. 28.
Matthew Ramirez, running back, Eastwood
In win vs. Bel Air, Ramirez rushed for 204 yards scored four touchdowns.
Jacobo Chavez, quarterback, Chapin
In win vs. Franklin, he passed for 261 yards and threw three touchdown passes and rushed for 62 yards and a score.
Andrew Flanagan, defensive line, Eastwood
Against Bel Air, he had five total tackles, one sack, three quarterback hurries and four tackles for a loss.
Ismael Rodriguez, special teams, Fabens
In win at Van Horn, Rodriguez returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.
LJ Bailey, receiver, Pebble Hills
In win on road at Midland High, he had 101 yards receiving and two touchdown catches.
Julian Williams, quarterback, Eastlake
Against Del Valle in a comeback victory, he passed for 339 yards and rushed for 74
yards. He accounted for five total touchdowns.
Austin Deucher, running back, Hanks
In season-opening home win vs. Montwood, he rushed for 222 yards and two scores.
Hector Holguin, running back, San Elizario
In home victory vs. Anthony, he rushed for 158 yards and a score.
Carlos Rojas III, quarterback, Riverside
Rojas had five total touchdowns and 252 yards of total offense in 44-41 loss to Parkland.
Davion Arnette, QB/LB, Jefferson
In win vs. South Side rival Bowie, he rushed for two scores, threw a touchdown and had 12 tackles and a sack on defense.
Andrew Dindinger, linebacker, El Dorado
In road win at Coronado, he collected 12 total tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss.
Joel Castaneda, running back, Austin
In victory vs. El Paso High, he had runs of 34, 54 and 66 yards.
Daniel Herrera, receiver, Burges
Herrera caught touchhdown passes of 63 yards and 87 yards in win vs. Socorro.
Jamari Milton, quarterback, Andress
In home victory against Las Cruces Centennial, he threw three first half touchdowns.
Juel Delgado, linebacker, Chapin
In road win at Franklin, he had 13 total tackles and two tackles for loss.
