Momentum for the Democrat Texas governor candidate Gina Hinojosa continued with the release of yet another new poll that made the race a dead heat.
A September poll from Overton Insights and the Texas Public Policy Foundation shows Gina Hinojosa within one point of incumbent Greg Abbott — 46% to 47% — within the margin of error. Hinojosa's campaign contends she continues winning key groups, while Abbott is "hemorrhaging support" with Latino voters, Independents, and Republicans.
A Fox News poll from July found she leads with Independents +27, Moderate +21, Black voters +71, Latino voters + 16.
"Our campaign is only getting stronger as more voters get to know me," she said. "I am running to secure the American dream in Texas by saving our public
schools and putting money in your pocket with an economy built for the people, not billionaires. Greg Abbott is asking for four more years to fix the problems he built."
Abbott has not directly addressed polling that has made this one of the closest gubernatorial campaigns in the country.
Rather, his campaign has focused on policy rollouts at locations across the state, including El Paso starting in February, Socorro on Aug. 5 and Northeast El Paso on Aug. 19.
Since the start of his reelection bid, Abbott has announced his "Keep Texas Affordable" agenda, Public School Efficiency Program and Immediate Guardrails and Moratoriums on data centers.
