One of the world's most famous fast-food restaurants is setting up shop in East El Paso.
McDonald's was founded by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald as a burger stand in San Bernardino, California, in 1940. The brothers brought in Ray Kroc as their franchise agent in 1954 and were bought out by Kroc in 1961.

From those humble beginnings, McDonald's has grown into one of the world's largest fast-food chains, with more than 36,000
restaurants in more than 100 countries.
Where is it?
The new McDonald's will be located at 10200 Montana Ave. in East El Paso, according to the city's permit and licensing page.
The new McDonald's will be located just across the street from Sun Metro's Transit Operations Center and next door to the Alpha Auto Center and Buddy's Beer Barn. Not far from the new restaurant are a Circle K, the East El Paso Animal Hospital and Two-Five Dive Bar.
What was there before?
The new McDonald's is being built on a former Charlie Clark car lot in East El Paso.
Construction plans call for the demolition of a small building still located on the site and the construction of a new McDonald's restaurant with a drive-thru window, as well as a new parking lot and landscaping around the area.
Who is the contractor?
The city's website does not list the contractor for the project, but the applicant is Martha Ramon of Skyline Civil Group LLC in Lubbock, Texas. The owner is listed as Charlie's Freedom El Paso LLC in Harlingen, Texas.
The project is valued at $2.5 million.
