El Paso news anchor Mauricio Casillas, who has been away for four years, is coming back home this fall.
Casillas, who has been working at NBC Washington and Telemundo, announced Wednesday, Aug. 19, that he is returning to El Paso to co-anchor ABC Channel 7's primetime newscasts alongside Marcel Clarke.
"KVIA is the station that gave me my first opportunity on television. It’s where it all started for me. The chance to return home, and to continue the legacy of a station that has meant so much to me, is an opportunity I simply couldn’t pass up," he said in a statement.

"My time at NBC and Telemundo Washington has been an incredible chapter of my career. I’ve had the privilege of covering some massive stories, working alongside some of the best journalists
in the business, making lifelong friends and growing in ways I never could have imagined. I will always be grateful for these four years," he added.
Casillas said he values the opportunity to come home and be closer to his family, especially his wife and son, so he can be surrounded by people who love their family. His last day at NBC Washington will be Sept. 5. He will start anchoring at KVIA in late September.
"I am so excited to have some of the best Mexican food in the country whenever I want. I am really craving some tacos de barbacoa. I can’t wait for that," he said.
