A 20-year-old El Paso motorcyclist died after colliding with a car making a turn on a Lower Valley street, police said.
The deadly collision occurred about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the 7900 block of Knights Drive by Thomas Manor Park, El Paso police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said in a news release.
Brandon Olivas was riding 2019 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at a high speed heading east on Knights Drive while Jorge Maul, 55, of El Paso, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the street, police said.
The Malibu made a left turn and collided with the motorcycle. Olivas was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.

Failure to yield the right of way and speed were factors in the collision, which remains under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
There have been 53 traffic-related deaths in El Paso this year compared with 50 at the same time in 2025, according to EPPD statistics.
The traffic death coincidentally occurred on the same block as the Columbia Apartments where 20-year-old Francisco Martinez III was killed in a stabbing late Sunday night, Oct. 11, in an ongoing homicide investigation.
