With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.

This week, readers can vote for the Girls Athlete of the Week in volleyball and cross country for the week of Sept. 8-12.

Here are this week's nominees:

Sofia Nevarez, Hanks volleyball. In Friday's match, she had 17 digs and a service ace.
Difanny Soltero, Coronado volleyball. Against Montwood, she had 4 aces, 9 kills, 23 assists, 11 digs. Against Socorro, she had 2 aces, 6 kills, 1 block, 19 assists and 6 digs.
Zoeh Cereceres, Chapin volleyball. In two wins last week, she had 36 kills.
Anaisabel Orta, Americas volleyball. Against Andress, she had 3 kills, 6 digs, 12 assists. Against Canutillo, she had 7 assists, 4 digs.
Sabella Guillen, Canutillo Volleyball. In two matches last week, she had 19 kills and seven digs.
Sophia Samaniego, Riverside volleyball. In two matches last week, she had 26 kills and 63 digs.
Mia Mora, Montwood volleyball. Against Pebble Hills, she had 11 kills and 38 digs.
Mia Lopez, Eastwood volleyball. In two matches last week, she had 27 kills and 16 digs.
Addison Pollock, Pebble Hills volleyball. In five set win vs. Montwood, she had 18 kills, 6 digs and 4 service aces.
Angel Quinonez, Fabens cross country. At the very competitive Cathedral and Loretto meet, Quinonez had a top 10 finish with a time of 21:11.91.
