With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.
This week, readers vote for who the Athlete of the Week in volleyball and cross country for the week of Aug. 11-15. Voting concludes at 3 p.m. On Thursday, Aug. 20

This week's nominees:
- Kylie Vega, Eastwood cross country. She took first at the Canutillo Invite in time of 18:33.55.
- Noah Garcia, Eastwood cross country. He took first at the Canutillo Invite in time of 15:06.03.
- Armando Jalil, Clint cross country. Jalil won the Fabens cross country meet in time of 16:17.20.
- Sayuri Ulloa, Burges cross country. Ulloa won the Fabens cross country meet in time of 19:31.01.
- Abby Martinez, Ysleta volleyball. In match vs. Socorro, she set a school record for most kills in a match with 25.
- Iha Swift, Hanks volleyball. Swift had 11 kills, 12 digs and an ace in season opening win vs. Jefferson.
- Raelyn Shavers, Pebble Hills volleyball. Last week, Shavers had 94 assists, 22 digs and two aces in a single match vs. Del Valle and at the Garland ISD tournament.
- Addison Pollock, Pebble Hills volleyball. Pollock finished the week with 27 kills, 15 digs, four blocks and six service aces.
- Judith Faulkner, Bel Air volleyball. Faulkner was named to the All-Tournament team at the Monahans Invite. She finished the week with 21 kills, 29 assosts and 19 digs.
