El Paso Water's new $55 million headquarters is open.
Demolition of its longtime headquarters,next to the new building, is underway and expected to be completed in October.
The entire project cost is $70 million, including demolition of the old building, construction of a 146-space parking garage, and extensive landscaping, according to El Paso Water information.
Revenue from customers of the city government-operated utility is funding the project.

The buildings are at 1154 Hawkins Blvd., next to the Fountains at Farah shopping center, and across from Cielo Vista Mall in East-Central El Paso.

Water moved there in 1992, was located, and in other areas of the four-acre campus.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in February. Construction of the three-story office building began in January 2024.
The 260 employees housed in the new building moved there in late July. It's designed to house about 290 full-time employees, utility officials have said. The utility also has employees in several other locations.
Hensel Phelps Construction Co., of Greeley, Colorado, is the general contractor for the project; the architects are Exigo Architecture, of El Paso. and Lake Flato Architects, of San Antonio. The landscaping designer is Ten Eyck Landscaping Architecture of Austin.
