Riverside quarterback Carlos Rojas can win games a lot of different ways, whether with his rocket arm or his explosive legs.
With a potential District 104A Division I title on the line in a league opener against Ysleta, Rojas made sure the shootout that was forecasted came off as planned. Using all his tools, Rojas rushed for 230 yards while throwing four touchdown passes as the Rangers rolled past Ysleta 56-40.

Riverside got just enough from its defense to hold off an Ysleta team that was also hard to stop, and two blocked extra points also helped the cause as the Indians were able to hold a multi-score lead through the fourth quarter.
Riverside up 28-21 at half
Riverside quarterback Carlos Rojas threw three first-half touchdown passes and ran for 162 yards on 10 carries
as the Rangers and Ysleta traded touchdowns in a first half that ended with Riverside up 28-21.
Stops were rare in the half, though Riverside did bookend the half with tops, one on a fourth down to end an opening Indian drive of more than 6 minutes, then were able to milk the last second off the first-half clock with Ysleta on the Ranger 9.
Ysleta tailback Daniel Torres had 102 first-half yards n 13 carries.
