With the 2026-27 high school sports seasonapproaching, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to select El Paso's top athletes and teams.

This week, readers can vote for the Athlete of the Week in volleyball and cross country for the week of Aug. 18-22.

This week's nominees:

Armando Jalil, Clint cross country. Jalil had a top 10 finish at the Eastwood Invite and broke a school record with time of 15:38.35.
Noah Loweree, Eastwood cross country. Lowereen ran an impressive second at the Eastwood Invite with a time of 14:39.95.
Carlee Caraveo, Eastwood cross country. She finished second at the Eastwood Invite with time of 18:01.09.
Raelyn Shaver, Pebble Hills volleyball. Shaver helped lead team to title in Del Valle Tournament. Had 20 assists in title match win vs. Burges. In another match vs. Ysleta, she had 31 assists and seven digs.
Zoeh Cereceres, Chapin volleyball. Cereceres was named MVP of Lubbock Cooper Tournament, which the Huskies won.
Gianna Dominguez, Chapin volleyball. Cereceres was named to All-Tournament team of Lubbock Cooper Tournament, which the Huskies won.
Keira McRae, Canutillo volleyball. McRae was named to All-Tournament team of Lubbock Cooper Tournament.
Genna Gandara, Eastlake volleyball. Gandara was named to All-Tournament team of Northwest ISD Tournament.
Natasha Hernandez, Coronado volleyball. In win vs. El Paso High, she had 10 kills, 8 assists and a dig. Against Plano West, she had 7 kills and 8 digs; against Frisco Wakeland, 8 kills and 3 digs; against Vista Ridge, 10 kills and 4 digs; and against Frisco Reedy, 7 kills and 6 digs.
Jovane Estebane, Eastwood volleyball. In win vs. El Dorado, she had 30 assists, 4 aces and 4 digs.
