Walmartshoppers now have another way to pay at checkout.
The retail giant has now rolled out a new Tap to Pay option at select Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations, allowing shoppers to make contactless payments at checkout. The company plans to expand the feature to all Walmart and Sam’s Club stores by the end of 2026, according to a news release.
Walmart fuel stations are expected to get the contactless payment option by mid-2027.
“When we think about convenience, we think about a lot of things, but making shopping feel simpler and more seamless from start to finish is a big part. And one of the moments where that matters most is at checkout,” the company said in the release.
The new payment option is part of Walmart’s effort to make the checkout
process faster and give shoppers more flexibility in how they pay.
Customers and Sam’s Club members will also be able to add eligible Walmart, Sam’s Club and OnePay cards to their digital wallets, giving them another way to access and use the cards while shopping.
The rollout means shoppers at participating locations will have an additional contactless option at the register as Walmart continues expanding the feature nationwide.
Walmart has not released a list of individual stores currently offering Tap to Pay.
