Week 6 of the high school football season is here. Teams will play 10 regular-season games with one week off.
Here is a look at the games scheduled for this week: Thursday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 2.
This
week, Eastlake, Americas, El Dorado, Bel Air, Parkland, Hanks, Horizon, Anthony, Del Valle and Canutillo are idle.
Eastwood (4-1) vs. Pebble Hills (2-1), 7 p.m. Thursday at SAC 2
Pebble Hills has been very impressive in wins vs. Midland High, Hanks, Chapin and Montwood, and a competitive loss to Odessa Permian. Eastwood, the defending District 1-6A champ, has been particularly impressive in wins against Canutillo and Eastlake. Both teams are well coached and very good in all phases of the game. Socorro (2-2) vs. Franklin (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Franklin HS
Socorro is much improved and nearly defeated an improving Coronado, losing 38-35. The Bulldogs can move the ball effectively through the air or on the ground. Franklin is showing improvement as the season moves forward and is coming off a bye week. Franklin 42, Socorro 35
Montwood (0-5) vs. Coronado (3-2), 7 p.m. Friday at Coronado HS
The Thunderbirds are on a hot streak with three straight wins and have shown big-play ability on offense and a stingy defense. The Rams have yet to find consistency on either side of the ball. Coronado 31, Montwood 17
Andress (5-0) vs. Irvin (2-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Irvin HS
The Eagles have shown their offensive capabilities all season long and now the defense is showing improved play. Irvin has been pretty solid on defense, but looks to find consistency on offense. Andress 45, Irvin 24
Austin (5-0) vs. Mountain View (2-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Mountain View HS
The Panthers have allowed just 48 points in five games and have been steady on offense with a powerful run game. Mountain View will test the Panthers defense with a strong pass game. This is a good test before the start of district play for both teams in Class 4A. Austin 31, Mountain View 21
Riverside (3-1) vs. Clint (1-4), 7 p.m. Friday at Clint HS
The Rangers already have significant wins vs. Chapin and Seminole and quarterback Carlos Rojas III is already over the 1,000-yard mark in rushing yards. Clint has faced a tough schedule, but hasn't been able to find consistency on offense. Riverside 49, Clint 28
San Elizario (3-2) vs. Fabens (2-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Fabens HS
The Eagles are having a strong season and picked up a huge 14-13 home win vs. Irvin at home last week. Irvin was a playoff team in 2025 and is considered a favorite to win Class 4A, Division 2. Fabens has been up and down this year, but could give the Eagles fits with a strong run game. San Elizario 35, Fabens 21
Ysleta (4-1) vs. Bowie (0-4), 7 p.m. Friday at Bowie HS
The Indians are 14-1 in their last 15 regular-season games, as head coach Joe Martinez continues to build a strong program. The Bears haven't been able to find much consistency in 2026. Ysleta 38, Bowie 20
El Paso High (1-2) vs. Burges (1-4), 7 p.m. Friday at Burges HS
The Tigers have lost two games due to weather-related issues, so it's been tough for the Tigers to find consistency. Burges has had its moments against a very tough non-district schedule. The edge goes to the Mustangs, which feature a strong run game. Burges 31, El Paso High 17
Jefferson (2-2) vs. Chapin (1-3), 7 p.m. Friday at Austin HS
The Huskies have a nice win vs. Franklin and have been competitive in losses to Riverside and Andress. Jefferson has improved significantly this year and, defensively, might cause some issues for the Huskies. Chapin 42, Jefferson 24
Tornillo (0-2) vs. Cathedral (3-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Canutillo HS
The Fighting Irish look to rebound after suffering their first loss two weeks ago vs. Clint. Tornillo is playing just a handful of games this season and is not a part of any district. Cathedral 42, Tornillo 21
