As"Jimmy Kimmel Live!"returns for a 25th season, one report is claiming it will be the show's last — something ABC is denying.
In a so-called exclusive, Page Six reportedSept. 8 that the upcoming season of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will be its final one.
"His contract is not getting extended," a source familiar with the situation told Page Six.
However, an ABC Entertainment spokesperson told USA TODAY the report is not accurate.
"This information is inaccurate – any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative," the spokesperson said.
Kimmel recently returned from a summer break that stretched from July through August. During his absence, longtime sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez and a rotating lineup of guest hosts filled in,
including Rosie O'Donnell, Colman Domingo, Jelly Roll, Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish and Ike Barinholtz.
The latest speculation about the show's future comes nearly a year after ABC temporarily suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" amid controversy over comments Kimmel made following the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In September 2025, Disney-owned ABC halted production of the show after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr sharply criticized comments Kimmel made during his Sept. 15 monologue about reactions to Kirk's killing.
Kimmel said the "MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize" the suspect charged with killing Kirk "as anything other than one of them" while trying to score political points from the killing.
ABC suspended the show for nearly a week. In a Sept. 22 statement announcing Kimmel's return, Disney said it initially pulled the show to "avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country."
