El Paso police investigators have identified a man suspected of strolling around naked inside a Lower Valley middle school while trespassing after hours, a Crime Stoppers of El Paso spokesman said.
The man was identified after being recognized on a Crime Stoppers' "Crime Alert" social media post on Monday, Aug. 17, Crime Stoppers liaison El Paso police Sgt. Javier Sambrano told the El Paso Times in an email on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The trespassing occurred on two occasions at 1:46 a.m. Friday, July 31, and 1:11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Bel Air Middle School at 7909 Ranchland Drive, Crime Stoppers stated.
Security cameras recorded the then-unidentified man
taking his clothes off, getting naked and walking around the campus, stated Crime Stoppers, which released photos of the man with a beard and long dark hair, who initially was wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and black shoes and prescription glasses.
How did the naked man enter the school?
The man entered the school through a maintenance door that was not easily accessible and was left unlocked, Sambrano said.
After Crime Stoppers posted photos of the trespasser, he was recognized by someone and identified. Investigators are still working on the case and the suspect's name will be disclosed once he is criminally charged, Sambrano said.
Man breaks into Lower Valley store
In a separate case, El Paso police seek to identify a man who was seen about 9 p.m. on Aug. 9 causing an estimated $3,500 in damages after breaking into the garden section of a Tractor Supply Co. store, 9541 Alameda Ave. in the Lower Valley.
The man unsuccessfully attempted to use a skateboard to break a glass door leading from the garden section to the main store, Crime Stoppers said.
Security cameras recorded the man as he damaged merchandise, stole drinks and snacks, and built a "fort" of various items in the garden section before falling asleep. He was awakened by store employees before leaving, Crime Stoppers stated.
