A new Publix is opening Thursday, Oct. 22, to anchor a new development in West Bradenton.
The 50,325-square-foot grocery store was announced in September 2024 as the first tenant in the new Seaflower Village Center in the SeaFlower residential community.
The new Publix will feature the Lakeland chain's newest layout, with expanded bakery and deli departments, a greater emphasis on pickup and delivery orders, along with a drive-through pharmacy and an adjacent liquor store.
It's also one of seven Publix locations opening in the next few weeks in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Dozens more are on the way across the Sunshine State as the grocery giant continues to expand to serve Florida's growing population. The next Florida location to open will
be in Englewood on Nov. 5.

Where is the new Publix opening in Bradenton?
The new Publix will be at 7535 Cortez Road W, Bradenton, Florida.
That's about 2½ miles west of another Publix on Cortez Road and three miles south of one on Manatee Ave.
Packing Publixes that close isn't unusual. Publix often opens locations near each other when the local population and traffic patterns warrant it, the company said.
What's included in Publix's new store design?
While amenities vary by location, Publix's newest stores generally include:
- Larger bakery, meat, and seafood departments
- Expanded deli offerings
- Self-checkout lanes
- Additional seating areas for shoppers
- Enhanced options for online ordering, delivery, and curbside pickup
Some redesigned stores also feature specialty offerings such as pizza kitchens, burrito bars, pasta bars, olive bars, sushi stations, and "Pours" beverage counters with coffee, beer, wine, and other drinks.
According to the Publix locator map, only a few Florida stores currently offer Pours stations, including another Bradenton store that opened in June.
More grocery store chains expanding in Florida
Publix isn't the only grocer building new stores across Florida.
Discount grocer Aldi has also been opening new or converted Florida locations at a blinding pace in recent years, with two more opening on Oct. 29. Winn-Dixie is making a comeback after a brief acquisition by Aldi with new stores, including one that opened in Alachua on Oct. 3.
Trader Joe's has three new Florida stores listed on its coming-soon page, and others are in the works.
Sprouts Farmers Market isn't spreading in Florida as fast as other chains, but more Florida stores are planned as part the company's expansion.
